8 weeks before you move – Contact

As soon as an offer is agreed you need to contact all relevant companies to tell them that you are moving. This includes your solicitor and removal company as well as banks, utility providers, insurance, schools, etc. Now is also a good time to contact Royal Mail to sort a redirect for your post.

6 weeks before you move – Organise

If necessary, you need to book your time off work and arrange storage. Get this sorted in good time so you know everything is ready for moving day. If applicable, it’s also a good idea to organise child and pet care so you don’t need to worry about your human or fur babies on move day.

4 weeks before – Declutter

Start from the top of your house to the bottom, getting rid of anything you do not need in your new home. Think about what you can donate or sell to save items going to landfill. Make sure you have read our top tips for decluttering your home here.

2 weeks before – Pack

Only once you have decluttered should you start packing. Begin with your non-essential items first. Remember, if you select our Gold Package, we’ll take care of all of your packing for you.

1 week before – Organise

At this point, you should start taping, labelling and organising boxes. We advise creating a room plan so your removal company know where each box needs to go. We also suggest you leave a bag of essentials but start packing up everything else.

The night before – Finalise

If you’ve followed our steps, you should be ready to go the night before. All that should be left to do is defrost your fridge and freezer, pack your car with the essentials, and charge your phone.
